Artist Statement - De Taylor

Life experiences and my lifetime passion of expressing my love for family, friends, outdoor sports and a desire to create have lead me to the present pursuit of creating images with the use of pastels.

For years I dreamed of being an artist. After retiring from a successful retail business in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, I began experiencing with pastels.  Ah, what a thrill to find that the use of pastels comes as second nature to me; feeling as though they are an extension of my own fingers and soul.

Pastels blend so quickly, layering, combining into a painting, often accentuating a particular area of the paper.  Often I utilize my own photographs and my own imagination for my paintings, all of which are a result of my experiences in the past, dreams of the future, while living fully today.
